Andy Gone
Andy had to take a last minute...and I mean last minute like 8:00 Friday night booking a Sunday morning departure flight, to Poland. I was not thrilled about him leaving and being alone here for a few days, but we survived.
We had a couple stretches of sunshine, so were able to get out and having the car allowed us to go to the mall everyday! I decided I am going to start cooking a new thing each week, so thought I'd start with hummus this week. In order to avoid the grocery store experience being a complete disaster I made my grocery list in English and then translated everything into Portuguese. I thought for sure it would make the search easier and if anything could stop and ask people to help. Well the experience was pretty much a complete disaster. It took 1-1/2 hours to get the 10 items that we needed. I continuously was stopping people asking for help, of which resulted in me feeling like I was on a wild goose chase. Needless to say I came home with the items that I could find and proceeded to make the hummus sans tahini. I even had the pleasure of opening my car of beans with Andy's pocket knife, as we do not have a can opener.
The best purchase was the "baking powder" that I needed for some muffins...well I got sent home with yeast! We'll see how long my new cooking spree lasts!
