The Hatten Visit

The long awaited trip of the Hatten family finally took place.  We had been talking about their trip since last October and were so excited to have them in our home and show them our life over here.  It was so nice having something to "plan" for and something to look forward to.  10 days with family…best 10 days ever.  Annabelle was so happy the entire time and loved having her cousi Will to play with.  The weather was not the best, but we made the most of their time here and could not be more thankful that they were able to share in this journey with us.  Thanks for the visit and the wonderful memories we created!!

Highlights and LOTS of pics below:

They arrived!!!  Hatten's in Porto!  First couple days:

Downtown Charlie Brown.  We went downtown and over to Gaia for the day and it ended up being one of the most fun days of the trip.  The weather was beautiful and we lucked out sitting in this beautiful courtyard with live music overlooking the wine caves.  One of the beauties of Porto is that you can be on one side of the river and overlooking the other side, Porto to Gaia, or vice versa, both with magnificent views.  We walked around downtown Porto and Gaia, enjoying Port, Sangria, codfish cakes and gorgeous weather.  We ended the day stumbling upon a block party which ended up being a blast.  Tents lined multiple blocks, 5 stages of live music, food, drinks and great people watching!

 The Voice in Portugal.

Block Party - signs everywhere that said "A Festa E Qui"…the party is here!

No wonder why we call them dumb and dumber :)

We spent many nights walking along the beach during sunset with roadies in hand.  Thank goodness we shipped lots of Tervis Tumblers, or as Drew calls them, Travis Tervers.

Beautiful day out on the pier.  And yes those waves are huge and will knock you over if you get all the way down to the light house.

Afternoon at L'Kodac.  The most swanky place in Porto…and best sangria ever!  We went at 4:00 when there was no one there…thanks to the 1 and 2 year old we had in tow.

Food…I think we all gained 10 pounds while they were here as we continuously ate our way through their trip.  Had some amazing meals out.  Especially Terra, our favorite restaurant, that continues to get better each subsequent time we eat there.  Kim's lobster pasta below…don't let the black noodles scare you…delish!

Wine tasting and downtown fun:  You cannot come to Porto and miss out on the wine caves and history of Port wine.
 Sister Selfie.
 Hatten's loving their Port…or a funny comment I made about Drew's backpack :)
                                                                       Mr. Sandeman.

Homemade dinners were a hit…everyone loved the fresh fish dinner…except for me.  No thank you.

Annabelle and Will.  I could not get enough of these two together.  Annabelle loved telling him what to do, having him play with her toys and a time or two roughing him up.  The two play so well together and loved to see Annabelle so happy and excited every morning she woke up and realized that her cousi was there yet another day.

In the middle of the restaurant…both were laying on the floor at one point…errrr.

Last day :(  Good-bye…can we start your vacation all over again please?!?!
